The Foundation for Shamanic Studies was founded by the internationally renowned anthropologist Dr Michael Harner who is recognised as the primary catalyst for the revival of shamanism in the modern Western world. Since the early 1960's he has chosen to immerse himself in the tribal spiritual traditions rather than restrict his studies to more traditional academic techniques and over the ensuing decades The Foundation for Shamanic Studies has built a reputation of consistency and excellence by providing effective, high quality training in core shamanism, to students across the world. In his half-century of anthropological fieldwork, cross-cultural studies, experimental research and first-hand experience, Michael Harner arrived at the core methods of shamans worldwide. Perhaps Dr Harner's greatest contribution has been his pivotal role in bridging the worlds of indigenous shamanism and the contemporary West, through his fieldwork and research, experimentation, writings and original development of the core methods of shamanism. By introducing these methods to the West, he started the movement that is returning shamanism and shamanic healing to the spiritual life of peoples throughout the planet.
